As a special request from a good friend
and colleague Phil Willis, I include a few pictures taken mostly
by himself from the HQ3 (Heron Quays) Canary Wharf project of
some of the the steel erection during the summer of 2001 whilst
working for Watson Steel Structures before Severfield-Rowen
acquired the company from AMEC in the same year.
Have a look at this link: Canary
Wharf for a little history lesson of the area before you
view the gallery and
also click on this link:
Canary Wharf buildings to see an aerial view where, dependant
on your browser, highlighting and clicking on a building will
give you relevant information with a building profile and using
the arrows to view from different angles.
HQ3 was one of several construction sites ongoing on the old
Canary Wharf site during the early part of 2000. I was personally
working on the HQ1 and HQ5 projects at the time which are neighbouring
structures.

HQ3 Canary Wharf
A very special hello and seasons good wishes
to Nicky Kingsbury who recently emigrated to New Zealand with
his family to leave this fine country behind to seek pastures
new.
The guys on Terminal 5 wish you well and ask the question: "Do
you miss all that you've left". I'm sure your reply would
be a two fingered salute, but we have to ask!
By the way Nick, don't you realise that we all now have our
very own . . . Click for recent photo >>
personalised taxi service departing from the N5 car park
after complaints of not enough buses. Trouble is we can't get
in the car park for buses now, not to mention getting out once
we're in!
