Welcome
to Paradox Images
This site
was first conceived in 1999, and in December 2004 was finally
turned into a working web site. Unfortunately the time needed
to build, upgrade and maintain the desired web pages has always
been the biggest stumbling block to over come, since my full
time job, welding and fabricating in the steel construction
industry, mainly bridges, takes me to all the corners of the
UK, and occasionally to offshore installations and further afield
to Europe.
I
have put together a collection of albums showing photos which
I have taken along the way, a reminder of the good jobs,
and of course the bad ones. Some are quite unique in the
fact that they have been taken from the constructors point
of view, an angle the general public or the press don't get
to see, or more to the point, not allowed to see especially
if it is a very high profile project.
I
can't include them all, but have shown some of the more interesting,
recent and present projects which I hope to update progressively
throughout the near future.
I
have also included a few black and white gallery's showing
how they used to do it in the good old days, not the safest
way to construct, and thank God safety has changed for the better
these days.
I'm currently testing a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III which is allegedly the best you can get, but the recent galleries were taken using a Fujifilm S9500 with a Fujifilm 6900 as backup. An old Pentax S4
Optio and Olympus Camedia C900-Z tucked away in my pockets provide
the spontaneous impulsive shots which are always there for the
"capturing".
My digital image manipulation program is the professional's
choice, Adobe's Photoshop Creative Suite 3 Extended (CS3 V10), which I
also use to create the generated albums, and my site creating
software is Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX.
I first started manipulating images some years ago with the
very basic programs available, the usual stuff like putting
your >>> bosses <<< head on another body
( it
'was' a long time ago), then was given a trial version of PS4
and realized this professional program, once mastered, (I'm
still learning) deserves a bit more respect than I was giving
it, and soon began to utilize it's state-of-the-art tools to
achieve my end results, progressing through the upgraded versions
PS5, 5.5, 6, 7, CS (8) CS2 (9),and presently CS3 Extended (V10).
The term "Paradox" means a contradiction in terms,
but a little artistic license has allowed me to use it in my
title, as some of the image manipulation I've done, not necessarily
shown here, (or is it), is certainly paradoxical, and can visually
contradict it self! Once you know how to do it, every photo
or image seen in the press is viewed with a certain amount of
scepticism and doubt!
