SeaDragon Offshore's Oban B Semi-Submersible
deep water harsh environment drilling rig.

The Oban B (SD 01) is a Moss Maritime CS50 Mk II designed 6th generation semi submersible drilling rig. The Bare Deck Unit (BDU) was constructed at the Sevmash ship yard in Russia for client SeaDragon Offshore and delivered to the Keppel Verolme ship yard in Rotterdam where it waited for the Graythorp rig yard at Hartlepool (UK) to be made ready for module and drill deck integration.
The modules were constructed at Haverton Hill (Billingham) and the North Sea Supply Base (LinDin-Middlesbrough) and the part constructed drill deck at the Graythorp rig yard on the river Tees by the Cleveland Bridge of Darlington (UK) who are a member of the Tees Alliance Group Limited (TAG).

Unfortunately the contract was cancelled before completion, and for legal reasons I cannot confirm the 'exact' reason(s) why at this moment in time as on-going talks, including a rescue package put together by the Cleveland Bridge and Mcnulty Offshore are being considered. Legal wrangling's are expected whatever the outcome.
The Oban B is currently moored in Rotterdam (5.3.2009) with Singapore being named as a possible alternative to complete the unfinished project along side the unnamed sister vessel SD 02 which is already on route to Singapore.
